An instrument of the Knudsen effusion method was developed, using a water-cooled sealed-off evacuated ampoule, in which the effusion cell with the sample was heated with high-frequency currents. The temperature dependence of the dissociation pressure of yttrium polonide, expressed by the equation: log P/sub mm/ = (6.40 +- 0.13) to (15,600 +- 190)/T, was determined by this method in the interval 1300 to 1600/sup 0/C. The calculated enthalpy of the process was equal to 71.4 kcal/mole. It was established that radiogenic lead, formed during the storage of yttrium polonide, does not have any appreciable influence on its dissociation pressure.
