Thermal conductivity of some heat pipe wicks

The measured thermal conductivity values of several different layered-type heat pipe wicks saturated with different liquids are given. A special device was fabricated for making these measurements over moderate temperature and contact pressure ranges. The effects of temperature level, apparent mechanical pressure, and number of cloth layers on the conductivity of water-saturated cloth samples consisting of copper, bronze, stainless steel, and nylon were determined. The values should prove useful in evaluating or predicting the performance of heat pipes employing the same type of wicks.
