Method and apparatus for seismic exploration. [removal of multiple reflections from seismic recordings]

OSTI ID:7361388
Reverberations or multiple reflections are removed from seismic recordings by applying a special normal moveout, using the velocity of the media through which the reverberation travels, in order to make the reverberation periodic on the seismic traces. Next, the data are deconvolved, and then the NMO applied is removed by applying a time shift in the opposite direction. Alternately, a timeshift to make the reverberation periodic can be found by correlating gated data from near and far traces.
