Applied aerodynamics of wind power machines

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7359096

The aerodynamics of various types of wind power machines and advantages and disadvantages of various schemes for obtaining power from the wind are discussed. Simple, one-dimensional models for various power producing machines are given along with their performance characteristics and presented as a function of their elementary aerodynamic and kinematic characteristics. Propeller type wind turbine theory is reviewed to level of strip theory including both induced axial and tangential velocities. (auth, from Introduction)
