An improved ignition device was designed for a rotary internal combustion engine having a housing with a peripheral inner wall surface defining a multilobe cavity and in which a rotor is eccentrically supported for planetary rotation. The device consists of: (1) a spark plug having an elongated electrode; (2) a support in the housing for the spark plug; and (3) an ignition channel for communicating the ante-chamber with successive working chambers.
