Electron spin resonance of electron irradiated Ni(CN)/sub 4/K/sub 2/ in KCl

Single crystals of KCl doped with Ni(CN)/sub 4/K/sub 2/ 0.02M were irradiated with 2 MeV electrons. ESR studies of the samples with 70% of /sup 13/C reveal the existence of four species assigned to be Ni(CN)/sub 4/Cl/sub 2//sup 3 -/ and Ni(CN)/sub 4/Cl/sub 2//sup 5 -/ in the isomeric states cis and trans. The form of the g and A tensors is discussed, and it indicates that the great anisotropies observed in the cis species are due to the influence of the vacancy created by charge compensation. (AIP)
