Quasipotential approach to the bound-state problem in quantum electrodynamics

The paper reviews two types of quasipotential equations. In Sec. 1, a study is made of the equation with nonlocal potential obtained from the equations of motion of quantum electrodynamics, and its connection to the equation for the retarded Green's function is established. A major part of the review is devoted to a systematic study of the recently proposed local variant of the Logunov--Tavkhelidze quasipotential approach. (AIP)
