Giant dipole resonance isospin splitting and the differences in proton and neutron rms radii for Sn and Pb

In an attempt to relate data on the isospin splitting of the giant dipole resonance to the rms radii for the proton and neutron distributions, results of previous measurements on photoneutron and photoproton cross sections for tin-112 and -124 and lead-208 are used. Various properties of these rms radii and their implications are considered. (JFP)
