nu. i/sub 13/2/ and. nu. h/sub 9/2/ isomers in odd-A Pt nuclei

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
13/2/sup +/ isomers with half-lives of 311 +- 15, 143 +- 5, and 95 +- 5 ..mu..s in /sup 187/Pt, /sup 189/Pt, and /sup 191/Pt, respectively, have been observed in (..cap alpha..,3n..gamma..) reactions on isotopically enriched Os targets. Isomeric decay schemes based on the present measurements and on /sup 189/Au and /sup 191/Au decay data are presented. It is proposed that the /sup 187/,/sup 189/,/sup 191/Pt 13/2/sup +/ isomers deexcite by M2 transitions to 9/2/sup -/ intrinsic states of ..nu..h/sub 9///sub 2/ character. In A> or =193 Pt nuclei the corresponding 9/2/sup -/ states must lie above the known ..nu..i/sub 13///sub 2/ isomers, which have much longer half-lives. (AIP)
