In an ongoing investigation of the Mg II doublet lines near 2800 A in various type stars, spectrophotometry of 20 stars was performed with the balloon-borne stellar spectrometer on the night of 1975, 14 to 15 March. Observations are reported of the five late-type giants which show pronounced emission in the doublet lines. These are ..cap alpha.. Aur (G5 III and G0 III), ..beta.. Gem (K0 IIIb), ..cap alpha.. UMa (K0 IIIa), ..cap alpha.. Hya (K3 II-III), and ..beta.. UMi (K4 III). The variation in the emission as a function of spectral type and absolute magnitude of the stars is discussed. There are noticeable differences in the Mg II emission features among some stars of similar spectral types.
