An initial value problem, relevant to three-dimensional integral monoenergetic neutron transport theory, is discussed for the case of an inhomogeneous, isotropically scattering, arbitrarily shaped body. Methods of functional analysis are extensively used for studying both the eigenvalue spectrum and the properties of the corresponding eigenfunctions.
