A brief exposition of weak solutions and their properties is presented. The completeness of eigenfunctions for weakly posed problems is established borrowing from Agmon, and the existence of abstract solutions of previous equations. An attempt is made to persuade the reader that the weak formulation, aside from being mathematically useful, is physically reasonable. Only the time rate eigenvalue problem is considered.
