Distortion of a non-aligned magnetic field by the flow of an inviscid conducting fluid past a circular cylinder

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7346861
The distortion of a magnetic field by the flow of a conducting fluid past a cylinder of the same permeability was found for small and infinite values of the magnetic Reynolds number. For small values good agreement was obtained with the results of Seebass and Tamada when the flow is aligned with the field at large distances from the body. For infinite magnetic Reynolds number, all the lines of force are dragged into the cylinder, and upstream and downstream wake regions are present on the axis of the flow. (auth)
