Generalization and improvement of the Dyson-Salam renormalization scheme and equivalence with other schemes

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D; (United States)
The Dyson-Salam (DS) renormalization scheme, as originally formulated in momentum space, is generalized and improved to a consistent renormalization scheme which is applicable to renormalizable as well as nonrenormalizable theories and takes into account all divergent subdiagrams of a given graph. The equivalence of our generalized DS scheme with the other renormalization schemes of Bogoliubov, Parasiuk, and Hepp (BPH) and of Zimmermann (Z) is demonstrated. The main point is that in the generalized and improved DS scheme, as based on the original method of Salam, subtractions are performed over specific disconnected subdiagrams, which are not necessarily redundant, that are precisely reduced to the subtractions over connected parts of the BPHZ scheme.
