Procedures are described for sampling natural gas containing different gases as contaminants such as: (1) natural gas containing primarily hydrocarbons and nitrogen, (2) natural gas containing hydrogen sulfide, organic sulfur compounds, or other sulfur contaminants, (3) natural gas containing carbon dioxide, and (4) natural gas containing gasoline and condensables. Sampling techniques described are suitable for taking samples from sources from gas wells through all stages of transmission, storage, and utilization at various pressures. The minimum volumes of samples, including the volume needed for purging the apparatus, necessary for two tests, the original and a check, are specified for various analyses. Various types of sampling apparatus are shown in schematic form. (BLM)
