Potential for energy conservation in nine selected industries. The data base. Volume 9. Styrene butadiene rubber

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7343748

Energy consumption data for the production sequence that results in the output of virgin styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) are discussed. SBR is defined as any copolymer of butadiene and styrene containing over 50% butadiene by weight. Virgin SBR used as a basis for the study is the product existing before addition of fillers, oils, carbon black, or other materials needed to impact particular characteristics to the rubber for specific end uses. Production description included in the report include the following: Styrene, butadiene, SBR, ethylbenzene by superfractionation, benzene by catalytic reforming, and benzene from coke oven light oil and dripolene.
