Consultant report on emissions control of engine systems

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7338093
An evaluation was made of the potential of conventional, spark-ignition internal-combustion engines and other internal-combustion engines, such as rotary, diesel and stratified-charge engines, for meeting strict levels of oxides of nitrogen emissions control in conjunction with specified levels of unburned hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions. The potential of alternative, more advanced automotive engines, such as the gas turbine, Stirling, and Rankine power plants, for meeting similarly strict levels of emissions control were assessed.
