Use of solar energy for residential heating and cooling

While much basic technology of solar heating and cooling is available, we do not yet have a generally satisfactory design procedure. One possible method is to model the system component and building and to simulate the operation in the desired climate. By repeating the simulation for several collector areas and for appropriate ranges of values of other design parameters, the design leading to least cost can be determined.
