Multiwire proportional chambers with delay-line readout for the imaging of positron-emitting radioisotopes. Annual progress report

This report describes the design and construction of four Multiwire Proportional Chambers (MWPC's) with delay line readout. The construction of honeycomb lead converter and efficiency of various lead converter configurations for 0.5 MeV gamma rays are given. The author reports the time spread, spatial resolution and their correlations for three different converter sizes. The author further measures the angular dependency of the conversion efficiency for a four layer converter. The author describes all the electronic modules and interfacing to the PDP-11/20 computer. A list of peripheral equipments is also included. (GRA)
