Study of solar plasma near Mars and along the Earth to Mars path by means of charged particle traps aboard the Soviet spacecrafts launched in 1971--1973. Part 3. Characteristics of ion and electron plasma components in antisolar part of the near-Martian space as measured aboard the satellite ''Mars-5''

Results of measurements made on board Mars 5, by means of wide-angle charged-particle traps, concerning boundary position and characteristics of the transition layers behind the Martian bow shock are presented. Measured characteristics of the plasma formation located behind the inner boundary of the transition layer at the antisolar part of near-Martian space are considered. The nature of its interpretation as the plasma sheet in the Martian magnetospheric tail are discussed. (GRA)
