Vortical flow afterburner device

A description is given of a vortical flow device for afterburning engine exhaust gases by mixing air with the gases. The exhaust gas flow is supplied substantially tangentially into a precombustion chamber disposed on the upstream side of a reaction chamber for producing a vortical flow of the exhaust gases. The vortical flow is then supplied into the central portion of the reaction chamber, and air is supplied substantially tangentially into the reaction chamber to insure combustion of the exhaust gases.
