Letter from Dr. Winkler (Welheim) to Dr. Pier (Ludwigshafen) concerning deliveries of materials from Scholven and results of some operations in Leuna (in German)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7320665
In this letter it was reported that a 700 atm, 5 liter vapor phase oven had been running for about a week in Leuna, using Leuna middle oils and a Ruhroel catalyst. At a loading of 2.0 kg/l/hr, the oven continued to give 90 percent gasoline up to a cutoff of 165/sup 0/C. The aniline point was already 38/sup 0/C, even though no B-product had yet been redirected into the oven. Since this yield could hardly be used in large ovens, Dr. Winkler had decided to send another catalyst with less splitting and stronger aromatizing effect to be used. Apparently, Welheim and Ludwigshafen were to carry out similar experiments on Scholven middle oils and the results of all experiments were to be compared to give guidance for the operation of the Silesia II installation.
