Ignition of coal dust by permissible explosives

Results of tests conducted with 14 brands of permissible explosives and with 3 nonpermissibles to study the hazards of coal-dust ignition during blasting in coal mines show that permissible explosives will not ignite coal dust in a mine and cause an explosion when fired in a manner approved by Bureau of Mines, according to this report describing tests made. Report presented at Seventh International Conference of Directors of Safety in Mines Research at the Safety in Mines Research Establishment, Ministry of Fuel and Power, Buxton, England, July 7-12, 1952.
