Genes on chromosome 3 of the mouse

Journal Article · · J. Hered.; (United States)
OSTI ID:7319241
Since the identification of individual mouse chromosomes became possible through chromosomal banding methods, linkage groups have been assigned to all the mouse chromosomes except Chromosomes 3 and 16. We report here the location of three loci on Chromosome 3: carbonic anhydrase-1 (Car-1), carbonic anhydrase-2 (Car-2) (originally designated Pro-1 by Biddle and Petras)/sup 1/, and blebs (my). Car-1 and Car-2 are isozyme loci. The my mutation, found among the descendants of X-ray-treated mice by Little and Bagg/sup 6/, causes principally eye and toe defects/sup 3/. This leaves only Chromosome 16 of the mouse with no assigned genes.
