Gamma spectroscopy of /sup 52/Fe, /sup 52/Mn, and /sup 52/Cr from. cap alpha. + /sup 50/Cr reactions

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
The /sup 50/Cr(..cap alpha..,2n..gamma..)/sup 52/Fe reaction has been used at incident energies of 23.5 and 27.2 MeV to search for states in /sup 52/Fe. Triple coincidence data were obtained. The first 2/sup +/ and 4/sup +/ states were located at 848.3 +- 0.9 and 2383.3 +- 1.3 keV, respectively. No ..gamma.. rays from higher spin /sup 52/Fe states were detected. A number of ..gamma.. rays associated with states populated in the (..cap alpha..,pp..gamma..) and (..cap alpha..,np..gamma..) reactions were observed. Two previously unreported states were located at 6452.1 +- 0.7 and 4163.7 +- 0.5 keV in /sup 52/Cr and /sup 52/Mn, respectively. The relative yields of many ..gamma.. rays were consistent with compound nucleus evaporation calculations.
