The objective of the research was to develop a permissible data acquisition system for recording readings of pressure transducers, borehole deformation gages, and other instrumentation installed in coal mines to monitor rock behavior. The research was successful, and the device obtained enables the collection of large amounts of instrument data over a long period of time, using very little manpower. Basically the system is a portable, battery-powered, 24-channel data acquisition system designed for safe unattended operation of up to 30 days' duration in explosive environments. (GRA)
