The cyclic voltammetry of lead and lead--antimony battery grid alloy in aqueous sulphuric acid at 25 to -40 C

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7317561
The cyclic voltammetry of lead and antimonial lead has been studied in 1.25 sp gr H/sub 2/HO/sub 4/, at 25 C to -40 C, at sweep rates of 0.42 to 42 mV/S, between hydrogen and oxygen evolution and over narrower regions of potential. The latter, coupled with systematic variation of the positive or negative reversal potential, has revealed peak shifting and hysteresis effects which give further insight into the nature of the reactions of the lead-acid battery. The significance of the results to the improvement of charge acceptance at low temperatures is discussed.
