Electron attachment to carbon dioxide clusters in a supersonic beam

Negative ions have been observed in a time-of-flight mass spectrometer with charge-to-mass ratios corresponding to (CO/sub 2/)/sup -//sub n/ with 2< or =n< or =6. It is concluded that these ions are formed by electron attachment to clusters formed in the rapidly expanding CO/sub 2/ beam from a sonic nozzle. (AIP)
