Experimental evidence of multistep processes in the /sup 74/Ge(/sup 18/O,/sup 16/O)/sup 76/Ge and /sup 76/Ge(/sup 16/O,/sup 18/O)/sup 74/Ge reactions

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)

Angular distributions of the /sup 74/Ge(/sup 18/O,/sup 16/O)/sup 76/Ge and /sup 76/Ge(/sup 16/O,/sup 18/O)/sup 74/Ge reactions have been measured at incident energies of 75 and 77.6 MeV, respectively. The time-reversed reaction cross sections leading to the Ge ground states are nearly identical bell shaped curves. Stripping and pickup angular distributions to the Ge 2/sup +/ states show a strong shape difference suggesting interference between direct and two-step transfer. Angular distributions for which /sup 18/O is in its first 2/sup +/ state are similar in shape to those with /sup 18/O in its ground state. Data are also presented for elastic and inelastic scattering in both entrance and exit channels as well as for single-neutron transfer.
