Preliminary results from measurements in nuclear emulsions of the isotopic composition of cosmic-ray nitrogen and oxygen

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7312418
Determination of isotopic masses of nitrogen and oxygen were made in a small stack of nuclear emulsion exposed in a balloon flight from Fort Churchill, Canada, in June 1970, from relations between track width and residual range. The mass spectra are the spectra of stopping nuclei, and their mean energy falls in the range 200 to 400 MeV/nucleon. The main peak for oxygen consists of /sup 16/O nuclei with a small fraction of heavier nuclei. /sup -14/N seems to be more abundant than /sup -15/N. (GRA)
