High energy scattering of polarized electrons from polarized protons. [Asymmetries, quark-parton models, differential cross sections]

The YALE-SLAC polarized electron beam (PEGGY) was used to study the elastic and deep-inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from longitudinally polarized protons. The elastic results agree with theory using the beam polarization as determined by Moller scattering. The deep-inelastic asymmetries are large and positive, in agreement with quark-parton models of nucleon structure.
