Pipeline activity continues rapid pace
This paper reports that additions and extensions to the US and Canadian energy pipeline grid continued at a rapid pace in 1991, as several major pipeline projects were completed and others prepared to begin construction. Major projects from Florida to California, Connecticut to New Mexico, Kept pipeline operating companies and contractors busy throughout the year at a level that should continue through 1992. Pipelines that are planned, proposed or under construction total 5,958 miles of gas transmission/gathering pipelines, 336 miles of refined products pipelines and 492 miles of crude oil pipelines. Total estimated cost is $4.42 billion. In Canada, pipelines that are planned, proposed or under construction total 1,077 miles of gas transmission line, with only a few miles of new crude oil and refined products pipelines on the books.
