Heterogeneous sensitized decomposition of water with sunlight. Quarterly progress report 1 Jan--31 Mar 76

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7307329
The goal of the program is to demonstrate that an inexpensive heterogeneous photocatalyst may efficiently decompose water to hydrogen and oxygen (or H/sub 2/O/sub 2/) with sunlight. The research is specifically focused on sensitization of known photocatalysts to the sunlight spectrum. Further studies on chromium doped TiO/sub 2/ in electrochemical cells were made. The stability of dye-sensitized photocurrents in TiO/sub 2/ was investigated. n-n(+) heterojunctions were fabricated with CdS/TiO/sub 2/ and photoelectrolysis cells were tested. The uv response of TiO/sub 2/ cells was more closely analyzed. (GRA)
