Asymmetries for the scattering of electrons from a polarized deuterium target are investigated to study the isoscalar weak neutral current. Sensitivities of the asymmetries to the vector- and axial-vector-type strange quark current matrix elements have been found to depend on the direction of the polarization of the target. One can study both the vector- and axial-vector-type strange quark current matrix element of the nucleon by changing the direction of the polarization of the target.
