BOM to launch micellar-flood test

A field demonstration of a micellar-polymer flood is being set up at the Bartlesville sand, Mary E. Costen lease, Delaware-Childers field near Nowata, Oklahoma. The sand has an average porosity of 21.1 percent and a permeability of 80 md. The micellar flood, which contains petroleum sulfonate as the surfactant, will follow a waterflood. It is predicted that 50 percent or more of the oil in place will be recovered by the micellar flood followed by polymer-thickened water.
