Production of hadrons with large transverse momenta in the pionization region

The covariant parton model of Landshoff and Polkinghorne is used to study the production of hadrons with large transverse momenta (LTM) in the pionization region. Expressions are obtained for the inclusive cross section for the production of a hadron with LTM, the double inclusive cross section for the production of two hadrons with LTM, the two-particle correlator, the differential associated multiplicity, and the average associative multiplicity of hadrons in the ''jet'' emitted in the direction opposite to that of the hadron with LTM. The possible contributions of Pomeron-exchange diagrams to the inclusive cross sections are analyzed. The theoretical results obtained in this analysis provide a completely satisfactory description of the experimental data.
