The progress of the Solvent Refined Coal (SRC) Project by the Pittsburg and Midway Coal Mining Co., at the SRC Pilot Plant at Fort Lewis, Washington, and the P and M Laboratory in Merriam, Kansas, for the Energy Research and Development Administration for the month of August, 1977 is summarized. During August, the Fort Lewis Pilot Plant processed a blend of Kentucky Nos. 9 and 14 coal during 31 days of operation in the SRC II mode. Four SRC II material balance runs were completed during this period. Eight exploratory SRC II runs on coals other than the Kentucky Nos. 9 and 14 to determine their suitability for processing in the SRC Pilot Plant were made at the Merriam Laboratory.
