Densification and fracture toughness enhancement of pressureless sintered aluminum oxide-titanium diboride composites

The use of pressureless sintering is found to impart a comparable toughening effect on Al2O3-TiB2 composites. Furthermore, various toughening effects relating to particle shape and size, as well as inclusion content, are observed. 22 refs.
