Subsolidus phase equilibria in the system Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3/--TiO/sub 2/--Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/

The subsolidus phase equilibria in the system Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3/ x -TiO/sub 2/ x -Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/ at 1100/sup 0/C were determined by solid-state reaction techniques and X-ray powder diffraction methods. The system was found to contain 4 ternary compounds, i.e. Bi/sub 3/TiNbO/sub 9/, Bi/sub 7/Ti/sub 4/NbO/sub 21/, a cubic pyrochlore solid solution having a compositional range of 3Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3/ x xTiO/sub 2/(7-x)Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/ were x ranges from 2.3 to 6.75, and an unidentified phase, 4Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3/ x 11TiO/sub 2/ x 5Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/.
