Preliminary results from second-derivative absorption spectrometry applied to monitoring of PNA

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7285931
Second-derivative uv-absorption spectrometry, when coupled with linear least-squares fitting, is capable of analyzing accurately a complex mixture of volatile polynuclear aromatic compounds (PNA) in the vapor phase and in solution. Digital techniques should be used to record and analyze the spectra. Results are given for naphthalene vapor and a mixture of anthracene, phenanthrene, chrysene, and pyrene in cyclohexane. 7 figs.
