Linestrengths have been measured for 12 bands of N[sub 2]O using a Fourier transform spectrometer, with an effective response function width of about 5[times]10[sup [minus]3]cm[sup [minus]1]. The observed bands for [sup 14]N[sub 2][sup 16]O are the cold bands [nu][sub 1]+2[nu][sub 2] and 2[nu][sub 1] and their associated hot bands starting from the 02[sup 0]0or 10[sup 0]0 levels. Transitions starting from the 00[sup 0]0 level have also been measured for the minor isotopic species [sup 14]N[sub 2][sup 18]O, [sup 15]N[sup 14]N[sup 16]O, and [sup 14]N[sup 15]N[sup 16]O. Measurements have been carried out with a relative accuracy better than 2%. Analysis of the results yields the squared vibrational transition dipole moment and the parameters describing the vibration-rotation interaction effects.
