A system for collecting solar energy consists of a target for absorbing solar radiation positioned above a plurality of independently positionable reflectors, each reflector including a base, a concave circular reflecting surface, and means responsive to incident solar radiation for positioning the reflector with respect to the target and the sun such that solar radiation incident upon the reflectors will be directed toward the target. The system can also include means for initiating the positioning of the reflectors only in response to the presence of the sun above a predetermined minimum angle with respect to the horizon. 16 claims, 4 figures.
