The domestic capital market will be able to finance an energy industry drive for self-sufficiency by 1985, according to a new study (by Bankers Trust Co.). Whether the industry can get the money will depend on its ability to show an attractive return on investment. The paper analyzes capital requirements for three cases: unrestrained imports through 1990, energy self-sufficiency by 1990, and energy self-sufficiency by 1985.
