An electroplating bath for the deposition of gold-platinum alloys is described comprising an aqueous solution of alkali metal hexahydroxyplatinate and alkali metal aurate. Preferably, the solution comprises sufficient alkali metal hexahydroxyplatinate to provide from substantially 15 to substantially 25 grams of platinum per liter and sufficient alkali metal aurate to provide from substantially 0.5 to substantially 3.0 grams of gold per liter. The bath is operated at a temperature preferably in the range of from about 50 to 65/sup 0/C.
