Cocurrent three-phase fluidized bed. Part 3

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7276493
The basic hydrodynamic variables of minimum fluidization and phase holdups were determined experimentally in a three-phase fluidized bed. Packings of 4 x 8 and 8 x 12 mesh alumina and 0.25-in. Plexiglas were fluidized by a cocurrent flow of air and water in 3- and 6-in.-diam Plexiglas columns. The holdups and minimum fluidization velocities were calculated from a pressure profile of the column. Correlations for the solid holdup as a function of the phase properties and operating parameters are presented.
