Composition for selectively reducing subterranean formation permeability
This patent describes a process for selectively reducing the water permeability of a hydrocarbon-containing subterranean formation. It comprises contacting an inorganic crosslinking agent with an aqueous solution comprising at least some cationic polyacrylamide to form a composition; injecting the composition into at least a portion of the subterranean formation, wherein the composition forms a visible gel in at least a portion of the subterranean formation. This paper also describes a process for selectively reducing the water permeability of a hydrocarbon-containing subterranean formation. It comprises contacting an inorganic crosslinking agent selected from the group consisting of stainless steel and boron with an aqueous solution comprising at least some polyacrylamide to form a composition, injecting the composition into at least a portion of the subterranean formation, wherein the composition forms a visible gel in at least a portion of the subterranean formation.
