Sublimation studies of NpF sub 4

The sublimation reaction NpF{sub 4}({ital s}) = NpF{sub 4}({ital g}) was measured over the range 820--980 K using Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry. The ionization potential of NpF{sub 4}({ital g}) is 10.4 +/{minus}0.3 eV. The enthalpy of sublimation from second law analysis is 288.1+/{minus}10.0 kJ mol{sup {minus}1}, while the second law entropy of sublimation is 199.1+/{minus}11.0 J K{sup {minus}1} mol{sup {minus}1}, both at 298 K. The calculated enthalpy of formation of NpF{sub 4}({ital g}) is {minus}1585.9+/{minus}17.0 kJ mol{sup {minus}1} and the entropy is 351.8+/{minus}12.0 J K{sup {minus}1} mol{sup {minus}1} at 298 K.
