Patent ·
OSTI ID:7271409
This patent describes a method of deasphalting a hydrotreated resid and substantially removing cracking catalyst fines from decanted oil containing cracking catalyst fines. It comprises feeding to a first separator hydrotreated resid, decanted oil containing cracking catalyst fines and a non-aromatic hydrocarbon solvent; treating the hydrotreated resid, decanted oil containing cracking catalyst fines and the non-aromatic hydrocarbon solvent in the first separator; recovering substantially deresined asphaltenes containing the cracking catalyst fines; substantially deasphalted fine-lean decanted oil-resin-oil solvent mixture; feeding the substantially deasphalted fine-lean decanted oil-resin-oil solvent mixture from the first separator to a second separator; separating in the second separator substantially deasphalted resins and a substantially deasphalted fine-lean decanted oil-oil-solvent mixture; and recovering substantially deasphalted resins from the second separtor.
