  1. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN (United States)
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) radiological calibration program was recently upgraded to provide an extensive array of calibration and exposure services to support the radiological protection programs at ORNL, Martin Marietta Energy Systems, and other US Department of Energy (DOE) facilities. This support includes not only the calibration of moderating neutron detectors but also the irradiation of personnel neutron dosimeters. As part of the program upgrade, a large, low-scatter neutron irradiation room was included in a 450-m{sup 2} (4800-ft{sup 2}) addition to the existing calibration laboratory. The facility design concept has served as a model for other DOE laboratory upgrades.
