Influence of the electrolyte composition on the formate oxidation in alkaline formate--air fuel cells. [NaOH]

In hitherto existing formate-air fuel cells KOH is used as the supporting electrolyte and KCOOH as the fuel which is oxidized. The investigations in hand were undertaken to decide whether NaOH is also a suitable supporting electrolyte. At the same time, the influence of the addition of carbonate on the rate of the anodic oxidation of the formate was studied. Results are presented graphically.
